WMSHP Member Spotlight:
Trinh Le, M.S., R.Ph
Trinh Le, M.S., R.Ph. is the Director of Pharmacy at Sibley Memorial Hospital. Trinh received her B.S. in Pharmacy from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and M.S. in Hospital Pharmacy from the University of Kansas. In 1999, she completed a two-year hospital pharmacy administration residency at the University of Kansas. She subsequently practiced as an Assistant Director at the University of Cincinnati Hospital before joining Children‘s National Medical Center in Washington, DC. At CNMC, she was a part of the leadership team working to implement the first fully closed-loop prescriber order entry system. Trinh is a Clinical Assistant Professor at Medical College of Virginia and Howard University. She serves as a preceptor for Sibley‘s residency program. She has been actively involved in WMSHP as President of WMSHP, board member, and was an alternate delegate at ASHP House of Delegates. She has been an active member of the Section of the ASHP Practice Managers Programming Committee, has served on the Commission of Affiliate Relations for ASHP, and the Section Advisor Group on Communication and Publication.
Q:Why did you choose pharmacy profession?
It’s a respectable profession and allows flexibility
Q:In what ways has being a pharmacist changed you as a person?
In my current position, I have the honor of working outside of the pharmacy department.
I have learned a lot about healthcare and have been a part of major projects that have made the complex world of healthcare and little simpler.
Q:What is the most rewarding aspect of your work?
Working with smart people
Q:Is there one resource you can‘t live without?
Internet
Q:What or who is the greatest love of your life?
My husband and kids
Q:How do you spend your free time?
I don’t have much free time but I would love to travel.
Q:What is your favorite childhood memory?
• Riding my bike
• Going to the lake with my family
Q:What is the book that changed your life?
There are a lot of great books, but the first one that I can remember that made an impact was Wuthering Heights, by Emily Brontë
Q:Which living person do you most admire?
My mom
Q:What is your greatest extravagance?
Going to great restaurants
Q:What medications do you always carry with you?
I have Ibuprofen and Acetaminophen readily available
Q:If you were a drug, what drug would you be and why?
I would be a safe drug with a lot of history.
Q:What advice would you offer to a pharmacist just starting out?
It’s a great profession, become involve and give back to your profession. Volunteer and become active in your local society. Network, Network, and more Network!
Q:What is the most important lesson life has taught you?
Treat others as you would like to be treated
